Mirage 26 Electric Conversion (Video): 6 kW ePropulsion Pod + Victron MultiPlus-II, Orion & x4 LiFePO4 Batteries
A classic Mirage 26 gets a quiet, low-maintenance second life with a 6 kW ePropulsion pod drive and a smart 48 V power system. In our new video, we walk through the high-level install and take the boat out to show how clean controls, predictable range, and near-silent maneuvering change the day-to-day experience—especially if your old diesel has been a constant headache.
System at a glance:
- Propulsion: 6 kW ePropulsion pod drive with side-mount throttle for tidy ergonomics and instant torque
- Batteries: x4 SOK LiFePO4 in a modular 48V bank—easy to service and expand, EPOCH/Solid State or Original ePropulsion Batteries could be used alternatively.
- Charging & AC power: Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70 for fast shore charging and seamless onboard AC
- DC stability: Victron Orion DC-DC to isolate/condition house loads and protect electronics
Why this setup works:
- Flexible & future-proof: Add capacity, solar MPPTs, or auxiliaries without re-doing the backbone
- Simple at the dock: One box handles charging and AC distribution cleanly
- Reliable underway: Stable DC, fewer moving parts, and far less maintenance
- Better experience: Quiet docking, precise low-speed control, and no diesel fumes
What’s in the video:
- Layout overview: pod placement, cabling, fusing, safety basics
- Battery strategy: why x4 SOK and how we plan usable range
- Power flow: shore to MultiPlus-II, underway DC via Orion, solar-ready design
- On-water takeaways: handling, noise level, and real-world usability
