Within each family, the choice is about how you charge rather than whether it fits – wall power, the boat's own 12V system, or solar.

Which Charger Fits Your Battery

Spirit 1.0 Plus packs have the widest choice. The standard charger is the one most owners live with; the fast charger cuts the wait roughly in half and is worth it if you turn the boat around twice in a day rather than once. There is also a 12V unit and a solar option, both covered below.

eLite chargers follow the same three-way split at a smaller scale, which suits a motor whose whole appeal is that you carry it in one hand.

The larger fixed banks step up in current. E-Series batteries take a 25 A charger, and G-Series banks take either 16 A or 32 A depending on how quickly you need them back. These are not packs to improvise around – the battery management system on a G-Series bank expects its own charging equipment, and a generic marine charger is not a substitute. Charging from Solar or a 12V System

Solar is the most common question we get about these chargers, and the honest answer depends on scale. For Spirit and eLite packs, a dedicated solar charger will top up a battery over a day at anchor or keep it full through a week at the mooring. For the larger E and G banks, ePropulsion builds MPPT charge controllers rated at 1.6 kW and 2 kW that connect an array directly to the battery, which is what makes a sailboat or a moored electric launch genuinely self-sufficient.

What solar will not do is replace shore power on a busy day. A panel array feeding a propulsion bank is a topping-up and range-extending arrangement, not a fast charge. The 12V chargers are the option most owners overlook. They let you feed the battery from the boat’s existing house bank, a vehicle, or a portable power station, which turns a long tow to the ramp or a lunch stop into charging time. On a tender that gets used in short bursts all weekend, that is often more useful than a faster wall charger.
